1. Why is my alarm panel beeping? How can I silence it?
Your alarm panel is trying to tell you a message if it is sounding a beeping noise 3 times in a row. Read the message on your panel, then hit the OK button. If you do not see the message, touch the main Security button, then look for the Yellow button with a Triangle and Exclamation mark in it, push this button, then read the message that appears, then push the OK button. If you cannot stop the beeping send us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
2. My Alarm is going off but I have not activated my Alarm System yet so I do not know how to silence it?
If you have not had us come and setup your alarm system yet and you have set it off, press “1111” to silence it. If you have a Qolsys panel press “1234”. This is the default code by the manufacturer.
3. My smoke detectors keep going off, what do I do?
All homes in Ontario have smoke detectors installed by the electrician which is mandated by building code. If your system includes smoke detector monitoring, we have installed a sensor which monitors the smoke detectors which the electrician has installed Our system can only detect if your smoke detectors have sounded, but not in which room or for what reason. Every system DOES NOT have their smoke detectors tied into their alarm system. If your smoke detectors seem to be sounding for no reason, first ensure there is no dust in the smoke detectors by vacuuming them out. If the issue persists, please contact your builder or electrician to have them checked or replaced.
4. How do I silence my alarm panel when my smoke detectors go off?

Silencing a False Fire Alarm: If the fire alarm is sounding due to a detector sensing burnt food or some other non‐emergency condition:

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE CO2 OR AN ACTUAL FIRE FIRST!

  1. Silence the fire alarm sounder by entering your user code. If you have not setup your alarm system with us yet use default code “1111”.

  2. Review the alarm memory to determine which sensor caused the alarm (see notes below).  If the alarm restarts, there may still be smoke inside the detector’s sensor. Re‐enter your user code to stop the alarm from continuing to sound.

  3. Fan the detector for 30 seconds to clear the detector’s sensor chamber.

  4. After the problem has been corrected, from the Alarm Memory screen, check Clear Alarm History, then tap OK. NOTE: Violated Fire and CO sensors clear from Alarm Memory screen only when the sensors return to normal operation.

  5. Carefully inspect your premises for fire, heat, or gas if your Fire Alarms and CO Detectors remain in alarm state.

Alarm Memory: The main alarm panel will show you a list of alarms on the main screen. If more than one alarm was triggered the display shows the order in which the alarm occurred.

5. How do I ensure my alarm system will be responded to under the new Niagara Regions Police Verified Alarm Response Program after July 1, 2018?

As of July 1st, 2018 in order for the Niagara Regional Police to be dispatched to an intrusion alarm, ONE of the 4 following criteria must be met:

  • Audio sensors that can confirm criminal activity by the sounds detected in the premise

  • Video system to provide proof of criminal activity through visual image

  • Confirmation from owner, neighbour, or eye witness of intrusion

  • Multiple activation points from multiple motion detectors and or door/window contacts throughout the home

We have products and services which can help with items 1, 2 and 4 above.  Call us for more information about what is best recommended for your home or business.

We have new indoor video cameras available through Alarm.com which allow for video as well as 2-way audio.  This gives you live video along with listen in audio capabilities.  These cameras can be easily installed by connecting to an electrical outlet and your WiFi.

6. I’m concerned about my privacy, who has access to my video cameras?

Your video cameras are only monitored by you. The police nor our monitoring station can view your video cameras. If our monitoring station calls you to notify you of an alarm in process, you can view the cameras on your mobile device to listen in or view the activity in your home.

7. What if I don’t want to add video cameras? What are my alternatives?

Typically a combination of door contacts and multiple motion detectors works best. Door and window contacts can only detect the frame being opened, so if glass is broken and the frame hasn’t been opened a door or window contact will not alarm. This is why motion detectors are excellent supplements to door or window contacts. Ideally there should be 2 motion detectors in the primary living space which can detect someone moving throughout the house to increase the likelihood of verifying by at least two sensors. IE. a door being opened and one motion detector being tripped; or glass being broken (no door opened) and two motion detectors being triggered.
